Welcome! So you've always wondered what I think about, what my observations on life are, and what I find important, which is why you're here! Or maybe not...
Oh, well...I'm just glad you're here, no matter what the reason may be. This is where I share about what's going on in my life, thoughts and observations, interesting links, and generally meandering rambling. And sometimes, even though I'm a political neophyte I even venture into the world of politics.

Oh, yeah...I forgot. I started up my daily devotional email a couple of weeks ago, and it's been a blessing to me. It's called Morning Glories, and it's a fun devotional to write
Here's a lesson I learned tonight...never ever use cheap pasta. It doesn't cook up well and it tastes horrible. I had to dump that batch and dig through the cabinets to find more pasta for the salad. Thankfully I had some Barilla pasta way in the back...that's the good stuff!
It's gonna be another 30 minutes or so before I get to bed Total bummer...
AAAAAAUUUUUGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!! Blossom just tapped her paw on my eyeball with a claw out!!! Now my eye is watering and it hurts!!! I guess that's what I get for letting her sit on my shoulder while I do some stuff online...
Here are 3 poor quality taken with a waste of $20 super cheapo might as well not have one digital camera photos of Riley nursing Blossom for your enjoyment
The pasta is almost done, and once that's finished, I'm off to bed! I'm ready to
Tomorrow is Friday! Yayyy!!! I so love Fridays because they're the end of the work week and feel much more relaxed. Also, the proofreading department has a potluck every Friday. Not a big potluck, but whoever wants to bring something in does. We usually have fresh fruit, a veggie tray, some chips and cookies, and whatever else people feel like bringing.
I'm going to bring pasta salad, and I need to go get the pasta boiling so I can have the salad finished and ready tonight.
Tomorrow night my roommate plans to have a friend over, and we'll watch movies and hang out...should be fun! I need to remember to suggest two movies...Miss Congeniality and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. That's my reminder (I hope these smilies show up in the blog!)
I spent the evening straightening up the living and dining rooms, and it looks nice. I still have stuff piled in the corner of the dining room and I need to go through it, but it's presentable now. Last month my mom and stepdad gave me lots of end tables and a coffee table, and I didn't have any use for one set...2 end tables and a coffee table, rustic, with a scorched wood look. They're out in the backyard now
Riley and Blossom are getting along really well. She's taken to attempting to nurse from him! I've never seen a male cat let a kitten try that before! It's really cute Yeah, it's as cute as Hello Kitty
I began reading Rich Mullins: An Arrow Pointing to Heaven tonight. What a profound book so far! This isn't a book to breeze through in one evening, and actually even trying to read a chapter at a time is a bit much. There's so much to ponder and think on, and I'm afraid if I read it too quickly, I'll miss out on the meat of the book.
I highlighted some quotes from the intro and first chapter that I'd like to list here:
"The best thing any of us can be is fully devoted to the God who loves us with a passionate, reckless, furious love" ~ James Bryan Smith
"No one was ever won into the kingdom of God through snobbery. We come to know Christ through love." ~ Neva Mullins
"At the time the most convicting verse in the Bible was "honor your father and mother." And I realize now that that verse means that if you cannot honor your father and mother then you can't honor anybody. Until you come to terms with your heritage, you'll never be at peace with yourself." ~ Rich Mullins
"Why would God command us to honor them? (our parents) The command to honor them has to do with the fact that, like it or not, they are the parents God gave us, and to honor them is, in a sense, to honor God." ~ James Bryan Smith
"If you love someone, you'll surely hurt them - that's a fact of life." ~ Rich Mullins
"I thought I could love without being hurt, but love has broke me to pieces and every piece of me - every muscle - sings out "hallelujah" Love is light and alive and don't come without pain. But the pain of love - that passion - it's the pain of longing, the hunger and thirst for righteousness." ~ Rich Mullins
Do you ever feel like you get so busy that you lose sight of that quiet time with God? It's a time that you realize the importance of, and deep in your heart you long to spend that time with Him again, but you get caught up in the busyness of little things and the tyranny of distraction.
I'm there right now...my heart longs for the closeness I've had with God in the past, and yet I allow things to distract me and I gad (to be on the go without a specific aim or purpose) about like a...well...something that's aimless and scattered :D
I realize that I'm the only one who can change that, and that it's as simple as just doing it, but it slips my mind until it's almost bedtime, or time for me to leave for work in the morning.
So, on that note, I'm gonna publish this, go get my bible, head for my bedroom, and do some reading and praying :)
My advice for those who are reading this....whatever it is you long for in your walk with God...it begins by....JUST DOING IT!

Mondays...sometimes they're really good, sometimes they're hard to get through or they drag like you wouldn't believe, and other times they're just strange.
Today wasn't really strange, but it was slow. I had to decorate my supervisor's supervisor's office for her birthday, which was fun :) Streamers hanging from the ceiling along with a centerpiece of balloons, and lots of little small balloons scattered all over the floor. I need to dig some confetti out of a box in my closet and get to work early enough tomorrow morning to add that to the decorations :D
I left the kitten - whose name is now Blossom, BTW - out of the crate today, and when I got home she was just fine. I was slightly concerned about her and Riley and how they'd get along, but it seems that they're doing great. She likes him and follows him around, and he's not hissing or growling at her much anymore. Right now they're playing! It's cute, too :)
Here's a fun site about a cartoon I enjoy: Samurai Jack
I need to get my job review done tonight, and I keep putting it off. Ugh. I hate doing a self-review, but I need to get it done so that I can get it turned in and get my 'real' review. One nice thing is that I finally got a raise for being made the Lead Proofreader and supervising the proofreading department. My annual raise will be based on the new amount of pay, and if it's 8% again this year, it'll bring my pay up around $375 a month! Very nice :D
I'd better get and do my self-review. I should also call my sister and see how she's doing :)
Oh! I should probably also call my church this week and make an appointment to have coffee with the new singles pastor. She sent me a postcard after reading the questionnaire I filled out at last Sunday's Meet and Greet and wants to get together with me to discuss a few things. I'm looking forward to meeting her and also to finding out more about the new singles ministry and getting involved in leadership again. I feel so aimless when I'm not involved in some type of ministry, and I'm more than ready to jump in again, get to know some people, and help out wherever needed :)
Well, it's been about 9 hours since I brought the kitten inside, and I've figured out that she's a female :) She's a very pretty and soft black kitten, and I can see vague tabby striping on her cheeks. I wasn't sure what to do with her, then realized that I still had that big wire crate from when I owned Toby (my dog), so I set that up in the living room and provided her with a small litterbox, some food and water, an old shirt to lay on and a toy to play with.
Riley's been investigating, trying to figure out what she is and why she's in the house. They've been hissing at each other throughout the afternoon, but that seems to be quieting down now. Hopefully they get used to each other and become playmates!
My plan for the next week or so is to keep her inside the crate while I'm sleeping and at work, and bring her out when I'm home so I can keep an eye on her and Riley to see how they get along. I also need to see how Jasper (my indoor/outdoor cat) acts with her.
So, I guess I'm keeping her...no surprise to anyone who knows me! LOL! Now I need to begin thinking of names, but I don't want a name based on her coloring. Names for black cats are so boring and predictable!
What it ultimately boils down to, though, is her personality.
Well, it's the end of another weekend, and once again I didn't get anything done around the house that I'd wanted to do! Oh, well...one of these days I'll get something accomplished! LOL
My Blog...the beginning
I've spent this morning doing various little things, including posting in the forums at Crosswalk.com, reading a book, and then fiddling with the blogger program to get it to upload to my site.
While fiddling with the ftp features of Blogger, I kept hearing a kitten mew outside somewhere, but thought I was imagining it. Finally, I decided to investigate, and sure enough, I was hearing a kitten! I thought it was in a backyard across the street, so I came back inside and continued working on the blogger, but the mewing was getting more insistent, so I finally went outside again to investigate.
I walked across the street and stood on the sidewalk, listening for the kitten. I followed the mewing, and discovered a little black kitten in the ivy next to a fence! When he (she?) saw me, he ducked down and hissed, but I gently picked him up. He began hissing and squirming, so I held onto the skin at the nape of his neck, carried him home, and now he's in the carrier and Riley is investigating.
I'd been tossing around the idea of getting another cat, and prayed that if I should, God would bring one along. I don't know for sure if this is an answer to prayer or not, but we'll see. In the meantime, I need to fix a box up for the kitten, feed him, and see how he adjusts to becoming part of this family, and how Riley adjusts to another cat in the house. Maybe they'll become playmates :)
He's a cutie pie, though! I'm guessing he's about 7-8 weeks old, and how he ended up where I found him is a mystery to me.
