I had an enjoyable evening

Spent some time in my
chatroom chatting with friends then talking to my sister on the phone
I bought a Duran Duran video at a thrift store some time ago and planned to give it to her, but always forgot. When we were talking tonight I remembered it, and went searching for it. I found it in my computer room, out in the open but it took me 10 minutes to see it
She's excited because it's their first video with some of her (and my!) favorite songs...Planet Earth, Careless Memories, Nightboat, Save a Prayer. Back in the 80s she was one of their biggest fans along with her best friend Nadja. I've always liked them, but not like those two! They lived, breathed, ate and slept Duran Duran! I remember how brokenhearted Nadja was when Simon got married.
Over the years, Laura and Nadja lost touch, then about 5 or 6 years ago Laura was shopping in Vacaville and ran into Nadja! They picked up their friendship and are still close to this day. They laugh about how they were about DD as teens, but you can tell they still really like the group, and their favorite guys in particular :)
It's a funny thing...I look back on my teens and I never really had a crush on someone famous like they did. I never had posters of rock stars or movie idols on my walls or anything like that....I was always the different one, I guess. I was more likely to be found off in a quiet spot reading a book
Still am, actually
As a matter of fact, I'm gonna go read a book right now!
It's only the middle of February, and yet I'm beginning to anticipate spring. The weather today was gorgeous...clear blue sky, bright and sunny, and temps in the 60s. Right now it's in the high 50s and I have a couple of windows open to enjoy the fresh air.
I can hear a dog barking in the distance as well as the hum of a small airplane. My landlord mowed my lawn day before yesterday, and I can still faintly smell the cut grass and wild onions. I love having wild onions growing in my yard. I never knew they had such beautiful white bell-shaped flowers. One of my favorite smells of spring is freshly cut grass mixed with the onions.
I love twilight. I know I've written about it before, but this time of the day is so wonderful. It's the time for sitting on a porch swing next to someone special and soaking in the peace and quiet while sipping on iced tea. Talking is optional, but it's required to snuggle and enjoy each other. Maybe someday, Lord willing

I'd been planning to join Curves this month, but find myself reluctant to join a gym and subject myself to weekly measurements and weigh-ins. I have a hard time with doing that and feeling as if I have to answer to someone other than myself. Honestly, I feel it's my business and that I don't need to share it unless I choose to do so. I may join Curves later, but for now I've decided to buy a bike and ride that every day. I love getting out in the neighborhood and enjoying it. I live in an older part of Sacramento - my home was built in 1937 - and the houses and yards are very cute. A bicycle ride after work is a wonderful way to wind down (note to self...find a bicycle smiley).
I saw a very nice women's cruising bicycle at K-Mart, and will be buying that tomorrow when my sister visits. She has a van

which is vital for getting the bike to my house. I drive a Plymouth Neon

and ain't no bike gonna fit in that!
Last week on my way back to work from lunch, I was driving through a residential neighborhood and saw a bike for sale. On the off-chance that it's still available, I'll ask my sister to drive by there first before going to K-Mart for the other bike. Either way, I should have a bike tomorrow

I also need to buy a lock so I can use the bike for short trips to the grocery store.
Last night I watched Secondhand Lions...not the movie I was expecting at all! It was really good and funny, with a great message about living life to the fullest no matter what your age. Others may view you as being 'secondhand' and no longer useful, but they're wrong.
Now off to relax for the evening
After a long break over the dreary months of winter, I'll be posting in my blog regularly once again! Look for something from me later this evening.
In the meantime,
Cute cat photo! Not my cat, but still very cute
