Sometimes I can't think of a thing to write in my blog, and that's been the case this last week. I mean, I could write about all the normal boring stuff going on in my life, but I don't think people come here to read about how I went to work, went to lunch, came home, caught up reading in the
forums at Crosswalk.com, read a book and went to bed. I think people read blogs for thoughts and observations, and I didn't really have any this week, so...no blogging.
Right now Video Zone is on the Skyangel channel Dish carries, and Toby Mac's video Extreme Days is playing. It's a neat video. It's amazing to see how the quality of Christian music videos rivals secular music videos these days. Nothing for us to be ashamed of there!
Now that spring is here and we've had a long 2+ weeks of higher than normal temperatures, I've polished my toenails. In the spring and summer I like to wear sandals, and since I have ugly toenails it's better to cover them with polish. I use a color called 'stop traffic' which is a hot iridescent pink. It's bright, and it makes me happy

Sometime during the week my roommate polished her toenails and asked me if they looked ok. She'd used a very sheer pink polish, and I thought they looked nice. She was uncertain, though, because she doesn't like her feet at all and was very uncomfortable with polished toenails. My roommate is a tall woman, and her feet are proportionate to her height, but she feels like Bigfoot

I started thinking about polished toenails, and how differently my roommate and I feel about ourselves. My roommate has had very difficult times in her life, and her confidence in herself is low. She's always worried about how she's doing at work, is hard on herself and thinks she's big and ugly. I wish y'all could see her...she's tall, has a very nice build, blonde hair, and is super-sweet, kind and generous. And she's afraid to polish her toenails.
Me? Here I am...average height, overweight, average looks, with hot pink toenails. I'm certainly not as sweet or generous as my roommate and I love my polished toenails.
I know a large part of the difference is how each of us views ourself, and I pray that one day my roommate is comfortable with hot pink toenails
Rich Mullins....love that man's music

Elijah was just on Video Zone...I never had the chance to see Rich in concert here on earth, but someday in heaven! Hard to believe he's been gone for nearly 7 years...
Tomorrow my niece turns 4, and we're celebrating her birthday at Chuck E. Cheese. She's going to have a blast, while we adults will suffer through the chaos and noise

We'll survive, though, and she'll have a great time

That reminds me...I need to wrap her presents tonight.
I can't believe Ariel is going to be 4! It seems like she's growing up so fast, but it also seems like a long time ago that she was born. I remember driving to the hospital to be there for the delivery, sitting in the waiting room, and then calling my boyfriend to share the news with him. The boyfriend is long gone now, and Ariel's gotten so big!
I did some cleaning today, and decided to wash some of the items displayed on the baker's rack in my kitchen. I found a bag of catnip inside one of the dishes, and put it on the kitchen counter and forgot about it. Sometime later I walked back into the kitchen to discover both my cats rolling around on the floor and dried catnip scattered all over the linoleum! One of them had jumped onto the counter and found the bag of catnip which was promptly shredded open. I had two very happy cats and one very messy floor

Life is never boring with cats!
Well, Video Zone is over and I wanted to watch one of my new Netflix rentals before going to bed. My current rentals are:
Dance with Me starring Chayanne and Vanessa Williams. It's a cute movie, lots of fun with a cute guy. Chayanne is Puerto Rican, a talented singer and dancer, and not a bad actor! Poor guy's real name is Elmer

Hollywood Homicide with Harrison Ford. I've never seen this, but I tend to enjoy police action movies, so I'm looking forward to seeing how this one is.
Looney Tunes: Back in Action with Brendan Fraser. I think I'm gonna really like this movie! I really enjoy The Mummy and The Mummy Returns with Brendan, and this looks equally as fun.
Well, gonna go watch Looney Tunes tonight. I'll let y'all know what I think of it.
Have a wonderful Sunday!
There's just something about twilight that's made for sharing with that special someone, and there are times I wish I had someone to share it with. Tonight is one of those nights. It's a perfect spring twilight...the sky is layered with a myriad of muted colors, neighbors are barbequing, I can hear the springy thud of a basketball being dribbled, and overhead is the drone of an airplane. How I wish at times like this that I had someone to sit out in the backyard with me, sipping tea and sharing quiet companionship. Perhaps even snuggling together on a glider enjoying each other's company.
Rather than letting that longing make this evening depressing, I'll offer it up to God in my prayers and enjoy what I do have. I'll also write in my blog

I had another quiet weekend, with a lot of time to contemplate some things as well as simply relax. For all that I enjoy talking and being around people, at heart I'm an introvert and enjoy these weekends where I don't have much going on.
I have 3 DVDs from Netflix, and watched one yesterday - Babette's Feast. I didn't really get into it, as much as I wanted to do so. It was really slow, and I got bored. This morning I watched Joshua, which was surprisingly good. I enjoyed the 'what if' story, and thought it had a good message about community, working together and loving God. I also rented My Blue Heaven and am in the process of watching it. I'll probably finish it tomorrow night, though. America's Funniest Videos is on in half an hour, and Cold Case is on after that, then it'll be 9pm and I don't want to stay up til 11, which I'll have to do if I watch My Blue Heaven tonight.
My satellite dish isn't working right...it has twin receivers, and one of them isn't working, so I'm only getting about half my channels. This has been going on for almost 3 weeks now! You'd think I'd call to get it fixed, and I will, but I keep putting it off because I haven't been watching TV much at all lately. None of the local channels are coming in on satellite, so I have to disconnect it and connect an antenna so I can watch the local stations.
All of that is to get to the point that I haven't watched the news at all this weekend. I have no clue what's going on in the world right now. I can tell you that my local world is going just fine, though! But outside of my small sphere, I have no idea.
I did an embarrassing thing yesterday...when I was ready to check out at the grocery store, I got into one of the lines, checking as I always do to be sure it wasn't the express lane. As far as I could tell, it wasn't. I didn't see a sign, the lighted post at the lane I was in didn't say express, and the woman in front of me had more than 10 items, so I figured I was ok. I wasn't.

And I didn't realize it until I was paying and looked up to see that the lighted post clearly said express lane! My only consolation was that it didn't say that on the other side, and I only had 26 items...but next time I'm staying away from lane #2!!!
Well, I'd better go to the Foxnews website to see what's been going on in the world this weekend!
