What a day today! I survived 3 hours at Chuck E. Cheese this morning, and what a madhouse it was! Kids everywhere, noise blaring, lights flashing, giant rats singing, and my niece ate it up eagerly. She was in a 4 year old's idea of heaven and enjoyed every minute of it

I, on the other hand, was worn to a frazzle and thrilled to get home

I did have a really good time, that aside

I got to see most of my immediate family and had the pleasure of seeing Ariel's joy in her presents.
I finished watching Looney Tunes: Back in Action today. It was really clever! I didn't recognize Steve Martin even though I knew his character looked vaguely familiar to me.
After the Looney Tunes movie I began watching Hollywood Homicide, but finally had to turn it off. It wasn't that it was bad, but it was annoying in some respects. I usually enjoy Harrison Ford's acting, but his character was getting on my nerves. And Josh Hartnett? Ick. I really dislike the majority of today's 'hot' young stars, and Josh is no exception. Isn't he on That 70's Show? Only one of the most obscene and vulgar shows to be on TV today! I certainly wasn't impressed with him.
Normally I watch America's Funniest Home Videos and Cold Case on Sunday night, but the TV is too much noise tonight, so I have one of the jazz channels on Dish playing, most of the lights are off, the windows are open, and I'm enjoying the twilight. I don't think I'm going to watch anymore TV tonight. I just want to relax in the moment and enjoy the peace and quiet.
I'm looking forward to getting some work done in my backyard this summer and being able to enjoy it in the evenings after work. My 16 year old niece's boyfriend is going to prep the flower beds by digging out all the crabgrass, I'm going to buy a dining canopy and some new resin chairs and make my backyard into a pleasant retreat. I may also buy some of those tiki torches that hold citronella candles to help keep the mosquitos at bay.
Hey! The ice cream truck is outside! I could go for a rocket pop tonight...you know which ones I mean. The red, white and blue popsicles! I love those the best!
It's an almost perfect night...jazz, twilight, a gentle breeze, the ice cream truck, kids playing, iced tea, the smell of the lawn that was mowed yesterday, my cat laying on the desk next to me, a clean kitchen...I'm thankful for all God has given me.
My prayer is that I always be content with what I do have even as I pray and hope for added blessings in my life, and that I not let my focus turn to what I don't have and so become discontent. Even if no other dreams come true, I'm richly blessed!
It's Sunday morning. A beautiful spring Sunday morning! The air is cool and fresh, the sun is shining, the lawn is freshly mowed and smells of cut grass and wild onion. Dew is scattered on the lawn, birds are singing and a gentle breeze ruffles the curtains.
My favorite Sunday morning ritual is to get up early, visit a farmers' market and buy fresh produce and flowers, come home, go to church, then relax for the rest of the day. Sometimes I like to go out to lunch with friends, or visit the zoo or go for a drive in the foothills. Sundays are made for fun things like that!
