Sometimes it's hard to think of something to write about in my blog. I ponder vague ideas then discard them because they lack inspiration, and so I end up with nothing for the blog.
I could do my usual, and write about my days at work, the beautiful spring weather, my cats, my nieces and nephews, my roommate, what I'm reading, what I'm watching, but sometimes that seems boring and monotonous to me, and so again, I end up with nothing for the blog.
I haven't been able to listen to talk radio lately, and I don't watch the news, so I don't really have any current political opinions. I'm trying to listen to
Hugh Hewitt in the afternoons, but it gets so busy at work that I don't have a chance to hear much at all these days
Oh, well...I guess I'll just ramble today
During lunch I went to a nearby grocery store, and discovered that a new 99¢ store had just opened up today. I love 99¢ stores...they always have a fun variety of products, and you never know just what you'll find. Two of my favorite shopping things combined in one...bargains and unusual things

I ended up buying $13 worth of candy for the candy dish I keep at my desk at work, as well as 4 plants and 2 planters to put on my front porch.
This weekend I plan to buy some flowers and plant them in the planters on my front porch. I love having lots of flowers on the porch...it gives my house the look of a cottage, and I love being able to see all the greenery through my living room window.
I'm also going to be putting up a canopy in the backyard and will be putting a table and chairs under it so I can enjoy the evenings when I get home from work. My backyard faces west, and I have a wonderful view of the sunset. Sitting out in the backyard, listening to jazz, drinking tea and reading a good book is a great way to wind down after a long day at work.
My niece's boyfriend will be digging out the flower beds in my backyard this weekend, and for the first time since I moved in 11+ years ago I'll finally have flowers planted back there. I'm trying to make the backyard into a pretty retreat for the summer. The house I live in is old, and doesn't have central heating or air conditioning, so as you can imagine, in the summertime when temps get into the high 90s/low 100s, it gets very hot in the house. I don't keep many windows open during the day while I'm at work, so it's hot inside when I get home. I usually open all the windows, turn on some fans and go into the backyard to relax while the house cools down.
I don't really mind the heat...as we say here in Sacramento, "At least it's a dry heat!"
Lately I've been pondering toasters. Yep, you read it right. Toasters. Remember when you were a kid and you put bread or an english muffin in the toaster and then anxiously waited for the toaster to eject the bread with a loud POP!, and the toast would fly out of the toaster and, if you held it just right, land on your plate? Well, those days are gone.
No more brash toasters that eject your toast into the air with a loud "HUZZAH!" and a swaggering braggadocio...instead, we now have apologetic toasters that beep before gently elevating the toast from the bowels of the fiery pit. The agonizing terror of waiting for the ejection of the toast is fading into distant memory, and soon an entire generation of toast afficionados will never have that apprehensive yet enjoyable experience.
Somehow my Orowheat Health Nut English Muffins just don't taste the same...
I spent part of my weekend updating my
Morning Glories Devotional page and realized that I didn't have as many devotions written as I'd thought. A rather sobering discovery, to say the least. I'd better get busy writing more devotions, and get caught up with March! It's a good challenge, though...getting into God's word and writing about it is always a good thing.

I discovered a neat site this morning...
Oregano From Italy. Oregano is my favorite seasoning, and I'm tempted to order some from that site to see just how good it is. And for those of you who have people problems, for a small fee you can have a
Mafia Threat straight from Corleone, Sicily, sent to that special someone

Hmmmm....I can think of a few people who merit a letter such as that!
