I'm being a lazy bum today...I had all plans to get things done around the house, and instead I'm still here. You may have noticed I did get something done, though

Leave a comment and let me know what you think of it.
What an absolutely rip-roaring hectic week! From the moment I walked into the office on Monday to the moment I left this evening (Yeah, I did go home each night to collapse) it was nothing but one thing after another.
On Monday I was wishing it was Friday before it even hit noon.
On Tuesday things were better, but there was a problem with a couple of my proofers while I was at lunch, and I ended up eating almost all the chocolate in the dish on someone's desk. I needed that chocolate on Tuesday! It was like I was the Cookie Monster, except I was focused on chocolate.
Wednesday wasn't as hectic as the previous two days, but still had its own challenges.
On Thursday I had to sit in on a 90 minute meeting regarding requirements for reports with properties located in Texas to ensure that I was aware of those requirements and would implement them into the proofing process.
I spent today cleaning up the mess from the rest of the week, and when I left my desk was clean

I did have one problem today, though...there's one person at work who always seems to push my buttons without even trying, and it's bringing out some ugly responses in me :( She works upstairs, is a team lead of another department (her position is equivilant to mine), and is the backup for our supervisor when he's gone.
What's happening is that when she emails me regarding late files the tone I'm getting from her emails is that she thinks I don't know anything about my job, that I don't train my people well, and that she knows more than I do. And when I have to call her on the phone, she sounds less than enthused to hear from me.
I know my reactions aren't Godly, and aren't what He would want from me, and I'm trying to not take her emails the wrong way, but I really need your prayers and His help. I try to be pleasant to her, but sometimes it's hard when I feel like I described above.
I feel even more convicted after seeing this passage in the daily scripture box on the main page of my website:
Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.
~ Ephesians 4:30-31
If anyone feels led to keep that in prayer, I'd appreciate it. I know I need to do better, and I also know that the only way I can is with the help of the Holy Spirit.
Other than that, nothing too profound going on here....John Kerry is getting on my nerves with his doubletalk. I hope Nader runs for President and takes away Dem votes. Hugh Hewitt has
a great post here about Frank Lautenberg.
Mark Steyne has a brilliant article on the Jerusalem Post Online website titled, "
America's Primary Objective". Check it out.
I've added a new blog to the list up there -
Hobson'sChoice. Check this one out too - it's well worth your time
Ok, y'all...you have to check out this

You know it's a hectic Monday when you're wishing it was already Friday and it's not even noon. Yup, that's the kind of day I'm having today.
I'm facing new challenges at work, especially with learning how to work for a new supervisor. It's made more difficult by the fact that the person I previously reported to was one that I worked with well, and with whom I shared a common outlook on how to do the job. Now I'm working for someone where that's not the case, and it's been an adjustment. I don't view it as a bad thing, but at times it gets frustrating. Fortunately I'm getting better at dealing with it

One of my favorite times of year is here...strawberry season! Strawberries are my favorite fruit, and I love to eat them sliced then sprinkled with a bit of raw sugar, or over all natural vanilla bean ice cream. I also like to eat them topped with yogurt and Kashi whole grain cereal for breakfast. Frozen strawberries are a must in smoothies, and my favorite seasonal smoothie at Jamba Juice is the strawberry dream. I know heaven will be filled with strawberries
The California Strawberry Commission has excellent info and lots of creative strawberry recipes

Summer is trying to shove its way past spring, and I for one don't appreciate it. Days with temps over 90° in April? I think not! Summer needs to get a grip and get back in line behind spring. No wonder I don't like summer as much as I like spring and fall! At least spring and fall are courteous and don't try to throw their weight around!
Have y'all seen my
backyard? It's looking great! I still need to buy flower seeded straw mats for the flower beds and a couple of tubs in which to plant sugar snap peas and zucchini, but that's about it. The table and chairs under the canopy are clean and inviting, the windchimes add their music to the light breezes, and the smooth jazz on
KSSJ make it a wonderful place to spend the evenings. Add a good book like Flabbergasted and a glass of plain iced tea, and I'm ready to relax!
This weekend I'll be buying paint for my living and dining rooms and getting them done before May is over. The dining room is going to be a color called Dainty Green and the living room will be Washbasin Blue. The trim in both rooms will be a white semi-gloss, and the ceilings will be painted the same color as the walls. I'm probably going to add some wallpaper appliques from Wallies.com, and I'm going to add some dragonfly lights to the windows in the dining room along with some sheer white curtains scattered with sheer blue and yellow flowers which have been sewn on.
I tried a new church on Easter and really enjoyed it, and I'm planning to attend their services this Wednesday. I missed the last two Sundays, and it's important to me that I get back into the habit of regular attendance on Sundays and Wednesdays. Not only for the teaching, but for the fellowship and to make new friends.
Yesterday afternoon I decided to walk to the grocery store near my house, and when I got there I ran into my roommate and one of her friends sitting outside the coffee shop. We chatted for a few minutes, and my roommate told me that her friend had to have her cat put to sleep. So sad :( I can imagine how sad I'd be if I had to have Riley put to sleep! I hugged Cindy and told her I was sorry about the news. I still need to get her a sympathy card. That might sound silly, but pets have a way of becoming extremely important, and their loss leaves a big hole in our hearts and lives.
After chatting with them for a bit, I did my shopping and then went across the street to a small burger place to get a chocolate malt shake :D I enjoyed that as I walked back home, then relaxed for the rest of the afternoon.
I live in a very nice older neighborhood...I love it! Older homes, well-kept and landscaped, friendly people. I'm blessed :) I'm thankful God opened the door for me to move here 11+ years ago. Now that I'm getting the house in order I'm hoping to make some new friends I can share it with.
Well, I'm off to enjoy the evening
