Morning Glories Daily Devotionals
~ January 8 ~

For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.

~ 2 Corinthians 4:6-7

God's light can shine through us, and does so more brightly when we are broken. The cracks of our sins and shortcomings reveal His light, so that those around us can see His glory and know that God is real.

We fight so hard to stay whole and unbroken, thinking that a perfect life is the only way to show the reality of God to others. If only they see how we have things together, why, then they'll realize that God must be real!! Our brokenness allows God to shine through, and His grace and mercy are revealed for the world to see. When we are broken, then we are surrendered to God, and He can use us more effectively.

As one of my favorite christian authors and speakers, Patsy Clairmont, has said "God uses cracked pots". (If you can find her book by that title, I recommend buying it - you'll enjoy some hilarious stories, and learn more about God)

So, go out today and rejoice in your brokenness, for the light of God will shine more brightly through you, and people will see God more clearly in your life.

In Jesus' name,
Amen.
