Morning Glories Daily Devotionals
~ January 9 ~

I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I do hope. My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning - I say, more than those who watch for the morning.

~ Psalm 130:5-6

In the middle of the darkest night, how eagerly you await the approach of dawn over the horizon....you search for the faintest grey creeping over the horizon, and as the streaks of lavender and peach stream across the sky, your soul rejoices in the dawn of a new day.

Anyone who has struggled through a long, dark night knows how earnestly you wait for dawn. The hours stretch endlessly, and everything seems hopeless. Yet, with dawn's arrival, hope blooms once again.

Do we wait for God with that same eagerness? His arrival in our lives brings so much more to us than mornings ever will. He is our source of hope, and we so often forget to turn to Him when we feel hopeless. He is our strength, yet we struggle on in our own power, falling short and failing over and over again. He is our refuge, yet we look for shelter in our own works. He is our Father, yet we see Him as distant and cold, not really caring.

Lord, help us to look to You for all that we need. Help us to place our hope in You, and in You alone. You are more precious than the dawn of a new day, and we thank You for that. Thank You, Lord :)

In Jesus' name,
Amen.
