Morning Glories Daily Devotionals
~ January 12 ~

For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth; the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.

~ Song of Solomon 2:11-12

Winter - when all is cold and grey, and life seems hopeless. The land is barren, covered with snow and ice, and the desolate branches of leafless trees rake the ice blue sky. It seems that all is dead, and the cold will never end.

Sometimes our hearts feel that way - frozen and desolate, and we wonder if we'll ever feel again....or if life is a meaningless void.

Even as winter passes into spring, so the barrenness of your soul will thaw into the renewal of God's love. Spring creeps in, almost unnoticeable to the uncaring eye. Yet, if you look closely, if you listen, you'll see the shoots of new growth peeking through the snowbanks, you'll hear the musical sound of ice thawing and dripping. Each day, the air grows a bit warmer, and the snow melts. Soon the voice of the turtledove rings over the land, as the trees burst into full leaf and the flowers perfume the air with their delicate fragrence.

Finally, one day you wake up, and spring is here - no traces of winter remain. And the day will come in your heart when the frost melts away, when the grayness gives way to life and color, and the fragrence of God's love fills it once again.

Winter is past....spring is here :) Bask in the warmth of God's love for you today.

In Jesus' name,
Amen.
