As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted
and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught,
abounding in it with thanksgiving.

A tree stands strong in a storm when its roots run deep and anchor it to the
soil that gives it life. So we, as christians, flourish and grow when we walk
in Christ, and allow our roots to grow deep in His love. Trials and
temptations come, and we struggle and worry, but when we are rooted deeply in
Christ, we can stand strong in those times. We can even praise God in those
times, because He is there with us. He never promised that we'd be free of
trials and temptations, but He did promise to be with us no matter what.
How do we walk in Christ? Through some very practical ways - daily bible
reading, daily prayer, giving thanks even when we are faced with trials,
choosing to love rather than hate, choosing to forgive rather than hang on to
bitterness. And we need to make those choices every day.
We may not feel Him with us, but we know He is, and we can rest in that.
