Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord
your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake
you.
~ Deuteronomy 31:6
There have been times in my life that I felt sure God had abandoned me and
left me to deal with things alone. I've fallen short so often and wonder why
He would rescue me again. I've faced situations that scared me, not knowing
if God cared how I felt. I've wondered if God was really there, and if it
really mattered to Him that I was afraid.
In the middle of those times, I've learned to hold on to His promise to never
leave me or forsake me. I may not feel like He is there, but I know He keeps
His promises, and I know He will never abandon me. And when I choose to focus
on His promise, I find the fear leaves me, and I have the courage to face my
trials.
Lord, as we wake up this morning, help us to focus on You and take our eyes
off our problems. We may feel alone, but You've promised to never leave us or
forsake us, and You are faithful in keeping those promises. You are with each
of us as we move into our day, and You prepare the way for us. Touch those we
meet with Your caring love, and grant us favor in their sight. Lord, even
though the problems seem impossible to overcome, we know that You are able,
and we choose to put our trust in You. As we walk through the problems,
surround us with Your loving arms, and touch us with Your grace and mercy.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
