Morning Glories Daily Devotionals
~ February 6 ~

If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God, Who gives to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him. Only it must be in faith that he asks with no wavering (no hesitating, no doubting). For the one who wavers (hesitates, doubts) is like the billowing surge out at sea that is blown hither and tither and tossed by the wind.

~ James 1:5-6 (amplified bible)

Are you facing a situation that seems impossible to deal with? One that seems to have no solution? Ask God for wisdom, and He will give it to you. God's gifts to us are given freely, without reproach or faultfinding - and that's a wonderful thing! All we have to do is ask Him for wisdom, and it's ours.

Our asking needs to be done in faith, however. That doesn't necessarily mean that you aren't completely sure - I know at times I have doubts when I ask God for something, but I make a conscious choice to set those doubts aside and focus on God and His promise to me in the verse above. Remember the story in chapter 9 of Mark? A man brought his demon possessed son to Jesus so that He would deliver the boy from the demons. Jesus told the man, 'You say to me 'If You can do anything?' Why, all things can be (are possible) to him who believes!' (v. 23, amplified bible)

The father replied to Jesus, 'Lord, I believe! Constantly help my weakness of faith!' (v. 24, amplified bible). The father turned to the only one who was able to help him with his doubts and fears, acknowledging Jesus as Lord, choosing to believe Him, and asking Him to help with his weakness of faith. We need to do the same when we struggle with doubts and fears - turn to God in prayer, choosing to believe Him and His word, and asking Him to help us with our weakness of faith. And He will! He gives His wisdom liberally to all who ask.

As soon as the father said that, Jesus delivered his son from the demons. He answered the prayer of the father, even as the father admitted to having weak faith.

Lord, be with each of us today as we face our problems. Give us Your wisdom, liberally and ungrudgingly, and guide us as we use it in our lives. Thank You for doing this without reproach or faultfinding, and for knowing that our faith can be weak at times. Help us to choose belief in You and Your words when we falter or struggle with doubt. We thank You for Your gift of wisdom today, and praise You for all that You have done for each one of us.

In Jesus' name,
Amen.
