Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of sympathy
(pity and mercy) and the God Who is the Source of every comfort (consolation
and encouragment), Who comforts (consoles and encourages) us in every trouble
(calamity and affliction), so that we may also be able to comfort (console and
encourage) those who are in any kind of trouble or distress, with the comfort
(consolation and encouragement) with which we ourselves are comforted
(consoled and encouraged) by God.
~ 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
During your times of trouble, God is there to comfort and encourage you. He
reaches out to you in many ways...through a certain verse, a song, through a
word of kindness from a friend, or a hug from a loved one. He is the source
of every comfort, and will console and encourage us in every trouble.
Troubles are common to all of us, as human beings. We each face them every
day, and are learning to turn to God during those times. We may never
understand why we face some troubles, and at those times we need to cling to
God the closest, knowing that He is good and He is in control of all that
happens in our lives.
One way to use the troubles we face is to let God's compassion, consolation
and encouragement flow through us to those around us who may be facing the
same troubles as ourselves. We can understand how someone is feeling, because
we've been there and know the pain they're going through. The troubles we've
experienced enable us to sympathize, and we can reach out with love and mercy
to them, sharing the common ground we've found through our pain, and God's
healing begins to touch their lives. No experience we face is useless, even
though we may never understand it.
Only allow God to touch you with His love and encouragement, let His healing
begin in your life, and then share that with those around you today.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
