Morning Glories Daily Devotionals
~ February 18 ~

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

~ Psalm 119:105

Our lives are a path that lead into our future. We can't see that future, however, and sometimes that makes it hard to trust God. We'd like to know what lies ahead for us, to know what job to take, what road to follow, to know who to marry, what church to go to, and more. This is where we learn to trust God, one step at a time.

I once heard it said that in the days of the bible, when people travelled at night they had small clay lamps filled with oil that tied to their shoes, and these lamps would light the path that lay before them, a few steps at a time. They couldn't see their destination, yet they knew the path they were following, and focused on the steps that lay right before them, not the steps they had yet to take miles down the road.

Our lives as Christians should be like that. We know our destination as believers, and we need to trust God to guide us along the path He has prepared for us, keeping us safe in His hands. We don't know what roads we'll travel as we follow God, but we do know He's with us, and He will guide our steps each day, as we turn to Him.

Though the darkness of this world surrounds us, the light of God's Holy Spirit guides us each step of the way. One step at a time. As we need it. Step by step, trusting in the goodness of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has only good for us today....and everyday!

Lord, we live in a dark world, and sometimes knowing Your will is so hard. As we turn to You for guidance, light the path that lies before us and strengthen us to step out in faith, even though we don't fully see Your direction. Help us to be faithful to what You have shown us today and continue to light our paths as we pursue You.

In Jesus' name,
Amen.
