The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is
good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.
~ Lamentations 3:25-26
Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart;
wait, I say, on the Lord!
~ Psalm 27:14
Waiting....it's so hard to do at times! We live in a culture where everything
is fast...fast food, microwaves, express lines, the speed limits on our
freeways are higher than before. No one wants to wait for anything anymore.
We all seem to expect instant gratification and get impatient when we have to
wait. We want it, and we want it now!!
God sees it differently. Waiting on Him is a time of learning and growing,
but it's something we aren't comfortable with. We struggle with the waiting,
demanding answers now, and when God doesn't answer us right away, we conclude
that He wasn't really listening, and it's up to us to solve our problems.
Quite often, though, that's when our impatience creates bigger problems.
Waiting is hard to do, but we gain so many blessings when we learn to wait on
Him.
We can see the hand of God in our lives, working out His solutions in His
timing, and His miraculous provision is more clearly seen. We learn to be
patient, trusting in Him to provide for us as a loving Father. We learn to
see the beauty in stillness and silence before God, and when we wait upon Him,
we see the beauty of His creation around us. His peace fills our souls, and
we discover that waiting on Him draws us closer to Him. Waiting on God is
truly a blessing for each of us, one that is easily missed in the rush of
daily living.
Take time today to wait on God, to hope and wait quietly before Him, and
you'll discover the joy of being filled with His peace.
We must wait, wait, wait on the Lord,
We must wait, wait, wait on the Lord.
Learn our lessons well,
in His timing He will tell us
What to do.
Where to go,
What to say.
~ Praise chorus, author unknown by me
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
