Morning Glories Daily Devotionals
~ February 21 ~

In Him was life, and the Life was the Light of men. And the Light shines on in the darkness, for the darkness has never overpowered it (put it out or absorbed it or appropriated it, and is unreceptive to it).

~ John 1:4-5

Jesus is the light of the world - John 8:12 says, 'I am the light of the world. He who follows Me will not be walking in the dark, but will have the Light which is Life.'

Our world is trapped in spiritual darkness. And we all once lived in that darkness, not knowing there was a Light that would bring us life, and lead us into everlasting life. We may have even preferred that darkness, because it was easier to hide in it, and we didn't have to see the darkness inside ourselves.

But the love of God reached out to each one of us, and the Light of His Son, Jesus, shone into our hearts, illuminating the dark corners and showing us the depth of our need for Him. And as we accepted Christ as our Savior, we learned to love the Light of His love.

His love consumes us, and His light shines through us to the dark world we live in. Let that light shine before men, so that they might see the work of Jesus in your life, and be drawn to Him. Each one of us is a beacon in the darkness, and that Light represents hope to those who are hopeless. Let the love of God shine through you today in all that you do and say. Be a beacon of hope to those in need.

In Jesus' name,
Amen.
