Morning Glories Daily Devotionals
~ February 22 ~

And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on a mountain by Himself to pray. And when evening had come, He was alone there.

~ Matthew 14:23

Time alone...it's something all of us need. Even Jesus, the Son of God, needed time alone for prayer and refreshment. Being surrounded by people all the time can be exhausting, and it's easy to lose sight of God in the middle of all that activity.

Time alone allows us to quiet our souls, to focus on God and it refreshes us for further ministry. We can get away from the hustle and busy of daily life and examine our priorities. It also allows us to spend time in prayer, and to listen for God.

Finding a place to be alone is important, too. Jesus went on a mountain to pray. For some of us, the perfect place might be in our bedroom, or in our backyard. The important thing is to take that time for yourself, wherever it may be. It's not a selfish thing to do, although it might seem to be. When we take the time to refresh ourselves, we are able to go back into our daily life with more to give to others.

Lord, be with each of us today as we seek time with You. Help us to find that place of solitude and refreshment, where You can fill our souls with the peace that passes understanding. Guide us along Your path, and lead us beside the still waters. Refresh our souls today.

In Jesus' name,
Amen.
