Morning Glories Daily Devotionals
~ March 1 ~

Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we also should walk in newness of life.

~ Romans 6:4

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

~ 2 Corinthians 5:17

With the dawning of a new century, we need to remember that as Christians, our old man has died and we have begun a new life in Christ. It begins when we make a decision to accept the sacrifice of Christ on the cross, then we show that decision through the act of baptism, which is symbolic of the death of the flesh and the rebirth of our spirit, alive in Christ.

Sometimes, however, we find it hard to let go of our old habits, or our past still haunts us, or those around us won't let go of who we were, and don't see who we are now. What we need to remember is that when we choose to follow Christ, we do become new people! We are no longer that former person, mired in sin, lost in the world, walking in darkness. Instead, we are children of the living God, forgiven of all our sins - the ones in the past, and the ones we will do in the future - and we are walking in the light of God's love for us. We will still sin, we will stumble, but we are not in bondage to that anymore....instead, we can ask God for His forgiveness, and He freely gives it to us! The old has passed, the new has come!

Rejoice in that today! Thank God for His gift of forgiveness, freely given to all who ask. Seek His face each morning, ask Him to guide your steps, and He will. You are a new creation, and God has promised to complete the work He began in you on the day you chose to follow Him. You can trust Him completely :) What He has said, He will do.

In Jesus' name,
Amen!!
